Organizer Information

The Pollock-Krasner Foundation is an internationally recognized grant-giving organization dedicated to supporting professional visual artists. Established in 1985 under the will of abstract expressionist painter Lee Krasner, the Foundation continues the legacy of both Krasner and her husband, Jackson Pollock, by providing financial assistance to artists whose work demonstrates artistic merit and professional achievement.

The Foundation operates globally and has supported artists in more than 80 countries. Its primary mission is to enable artists to sustain and develop their practices through unrestricted funding, allowing recipients to allocate resources according to their own creative and professional needs.

The Foundation’s selection process is conducted by a panel of established art professionals and emphasizes artistic quality, professional exhibition history, and ongoing engagement in the field of visual arts.

Title & Description

Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant for Visual Artists

The Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant is a competitive international funding opportunity designed to support professional visual artists working primarily in Painting, Sculpture, and Works on Paper (including printmaking).

The grant provides unrestricted financial support to enable artists to advance their practice. Funds may be used for a wide range of professional and personal artistic needs, including but not limited to:

  • Creation of new work
  • Studio rent and materials
  • Exhibition preparation
  • Residency participation
  • Living expenses during active practice periods

Grants are typically awarded for a one-year period and are assessed based on artistic merit, professional history, and active exhibition practice in recognized venues such as galleries and museums.

The program emphasizes sustained artistic production rather than academic or student-based practice. Applicants must be actively exhibiting as professional artists with an established body of work.

The Foundation does not support commercial, performance-based, video-led, or craft-oriented practices. The focus remains strictly on fine art disciplines within painting, sculpture, and works on paper.
