Singapore Art Museum (SAM) is an art museum with multiple venues across Singapore, and it is the first fully dedicated contemporary visual arts museum in the country, holding public collections by local and Southeast Asian artists. It presents contemporary art from a Southeast Asian perspective and works to connect art and artists with the public and future generations through its collection, research, exhibitions, and programmes. SAM presents work at its galleries in Tanjong Pagar Distripark and other partner venues, and it also organises the Singapore Biennale and the Singapore Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. Since SAM Residencies began in 2021, the programme has hosted more than 80 residents from 35 countries at the museum's post-industrial warehouse spaces in Tanjong Pagar Distripark, with each open call cycle building on the last.

SAM Residencies — Open Call for Cycle 4 (2027/2028)
SAM Residencies welcomes applications from artists, curators, educators, researchers, and creative practitioners from across the globe for its fourth residency cycle, slated to run from June 2027 to December 2028. Applications are open for three residency strands — Artist, Community & Education, and Curatorial & Research — each of which is organised around three thematic strands: Listening/Attuning, Making/Material Cultures, and Beyond Human/Interdependence. The Artist Residency is open to artists and collectives pursuing new artistic research, experimentation, and modes of making. The Community & Education Residency is open to practitioners working at the intersection of artistic practice, education, and community engagement. The Curatorial & Research Residency is open to curators and researchers developing new approaches to exhibition-making, curatorial practice, and research methodologies. The programme is open to individuals, duos, and collectives from all mediums and disciplines, and applications will be assessed by an international panel of respected voices in contemporary art and practice.
Theme
Cycle 4 is organised around three thematic strands: Listening/Attuning, which platforms practices that respond critically to the urgencies of our time; Making/Material Cultures, which foregrounds material inquiry and the process of making; and Beyond Human/Interdependence, which addresses relationships between humans, technologies, ecologies, and other forms of life and how these worlds remain interconnected and interdependent. Applicants are invited to interpret these strands in relation to their own practice.

Eligibility
- Open to artists, curators, educators, researchers, and creative practitioners from anywhere in the world
- Open to individuals, duos, and collectives, across all mediums and disciplines
- Applicants must apply to one of three specific residency tracks: Artist Residency, Community & Education Residency, or Curatorial & Research Residency
- International applicants may apply for residencies of one to three months; Singapore-based applicants may apply for residencies of up to six months
Program Benefits & Awards
- Shared studio space or co-working space, provided to all residents
- Institutional support from the museum's Residencies team, including resources and expertise, network building, opportunities for public engagement, and a scaffold for interaction and exchange
- Singapore-based residents: monthly stipend of S$1,500
- Singapore-based residents: monthly local allowance of S$250
- International residents: monthly stipend of S$1,500
- International residents: round-trip flight in economy class
- International residents: housing arrangement provided
