Gasworks is a non-profit contemporary arts organisation based in South London, founded in 1994. It works with emerging and underrepresented artists from the UK and internationally through exhibitions, commissions, residencies, studios, and participation projects. Gasworks is also the London hub of the Triangle Network and part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio.
The Upė Foundation is a London-based platform connecting global and Baltic art communities, particularly those working across Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. Its programmes support long-term exchange, emerging artistic and curatorial practices, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Curatorial Fellowship is delivered by Gasworks in partnership with and funded by Upė Foundation.

Upė Foundation Curatorial Fellowship
The Upė Foundation Curatorial Fellowship is a paid, full-time professional development opportunity for an early-career curator with a demonstrated connection to the Baltic region. The Fellow will join Gasworks’ curatorial team and gain practical experience across exhibitions, commissions, residencies, public programmes, fundraising, communications, and artist support.
A particular focus will be supporting the artist selected through the parallel Upė Foundation open call. The Fellow will work with this artist during their 2027 London residency and contribute to the research, development, production, and logistics of their subsequent solo exhibition at Gasworks in 2028.

- Contract: Fixed-term, April 2027–September 2028
- Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 10am–6pm; some evenings and weekends required, compensated by time off in lieu
- Salary: £32,000 per annum
- Fellowship: 12 months, with a possible six-month extension following formal review and agreement
- Working Arrangement: Full-time, London-based
Position & Tasks
- The Fellow will support Gasworks’ artistic programme, working across exhibitions, commissions, residencies, public programmes, fundraising, communications, and administration.
- Key responsibilities include exhibition logistics and registrar duties; coordinating loans, transport, insurance, accommodation, and hospitality; supporting exhibition installations and documentation; assisting with budgets and invoices; researching funding opportunities; drafting exhibition and event texts; and supporting talks, tours, and public events.
- Within the residency programme, the Fellow will assist visiting artists, coordinate open calls and applications, organise visas and international travel, manage residency-related finances, facilitate research resources, coordinate meetings and events, and support documentation and reporting.
- The role also involves website and social-media updates, database management, fundraising support, maintaining records, and contributing to the general operation of Gasworks.

Eligibility
- Applicants should be early-career curators with a demonstrated connection to or sustained engagement with the Baltic region, specifically Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, or their diasporas. This may be demonstrated through lived experience, heritage, knowledge of a Baltic language, research, or curatorial work with Baltic artists, institutions, or contexts.
- Essential experience includes exhibition administration and logistics, directly supporting artists, project-budget tracking, event organisation, and strong communication and organisational skills. Applicants should have knowledge or a strong interest in contemporary visual arts and familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
- Experience in a small arts organisation, AV equipment, SketchUp, CRM systems, exhibition writing, or Lithuanian, Latvian, or Estonian is desirable.

The Fellowship is part of a multi-year Gasworks–Upė Foundation partnership supporting emerging artists and curators connected to the Baltic region. The Fellow is expected to engage with Upė Foundation’s wider fellow cohort and participate in research, travel, and networking supported through the programme.
