Skyline Residency Space is an artist residency and creative platform located in Venice, Italy, operated by Venezia Contemporanea. The residency is situated in the historic Jewish Ghetto of Venice, the first Jewish Ghetto in Europe, established in 1516. The program provides an immersive environment for interdisciplinary artists, writers, researchers, artisans, and designers who seek to develop independent creative projects while engaging with Venice’s unique cultural, historical, and artistic landscape.

The residency is designed around the idea of connecting artistic production with place-based research, cultural exchange, and public engagement. Located near Venice’s major cultural institutions, museums, artisan workshops, and the Venice Biennale venues, Skyline Residency Space offers participants the opportunity to experience the city’s artistic ecosystem while developing their own practices.

Venice Skyline Creative Residency for Artists and Writers

The Venice Skyline Creative Residency is an interdisciplinary residency program offering artists, writers, researchers, artisans, and designers the opportunity to live and work in Venice while developing independent creative projects.

Located in the historic Jewish Ghetto of Venice, the residency provides an inspiring environment for participants interested in exploring themes related to cultural heritage, identity, communities, migration, discrimination, craftsmanship, contemporary art, and site-specific practices.

Residents can shape their own residency experience according to their artistic goals. The program includes optional exhibition opportunities, allowing participants to present and sell their work without commission fees. The studio space can also host artist talks, workshops, book launches, and cultural activities.

Special residency programs focus on socially relevant themes, including research connected to Jewish heritage and identity, marginalized communities, site-specific artistic practices, and the relationship between traditional craftsmanship and digital innovation.

Residents stay in a renovated Venetian apartment located in one of Venice’s tallest historic buildings, offering panoramic views over the city. The accommodation includes:

Please note that the apartment is located on the 7th floor without an elevator and is therefore not suitable for individuals with mobility challenges.

Application Fee

There is no application or registration fee.

Residency costs:

  • Full residency cost: €1,900 per week
  • Artist contribution: €950 per week
  • Sponsorship contribution by Venezia Contemporanea: €950 per week

Additional costs:

  • Studio and exhibition space: €250 per week
  • Extra person fee: €20 per night
  • Cleaning fee: €70
  • Discounts available for stays longer than one month

All utilities and essential services are included.
