Description & Background
Solas / Shadow is an online international photography gallery and growing creative community built on a foundation of over 10 years of experience in both photography and exhibition curation. The gallery’s name reflects photography’s core language—drawing from the Scottish Gaelic word Solas (meaning light, brightness, or illumination) paired with Shadow to represent the essential interplay of light and darkness that gives photographs depth, emotion, and narrative.
Objectives
The gallery aims to showcase the work of photographers from around the world through engaging, thoughtfully curated exhibitions, operating on the foundational belief that powerful photography exists beyond traditional gatekeeping structures. Solas / Shadow seeks to create a dedicated space for voices that have not always had the opportunity to exhibit, utilizing visual and conceptual themes to encourage dialogue between light and darkness, presence and absence, and the seen and the unseen.
Programs / Opportunities
