The K52 Art Foundation (Kunststiftung K52), located in the heart of Berlin's gallery district on Joachimstraße, has been awarding biennial scholarships since 2014. The foundation specifically targets a gap in the funding landscape by supporting established professional artists who have reached the age of 45, a demographic often overlooked by traditional fellowship programs.

This fellowship is designed to honor artistic excellence and high-quality work. It provides a bridge for professional artists to showcase their practice in one of Berlin’s most significant art scenes. The program culminates in a curated solo exhibition at the foundation’s gallery, emphasizing the public's understanding of the selected artist's creative trajectory.

Eligibility
- Age: Artists must be at least 45 years old at the time of application (Born between 1951 and 1981 inclusive).
- Residency: Must be living and working in Germany.
- Professional Status: Must have completed artistic education or provide evidence of many years of continuous professional artistic activity.
- Format: Work must be documented over a long period to show the evolution of the artist’s oeuvre.
Program Benefits and Awards
- Financial Grant: €6,000 total (paid in two installments of €3,000 in January and July 2027).
- Solo Exhibition: Organization and curation of a solo show at the K52 gallery in Berlin.
- Logistics: Transport costs within Berlin/Potsdam covered up to €200. For artists outside Berlin, travel/accommodation assistance up to €200 is available.
- Prestige: Evaluation by an expert jury including external art professionals.

Application Requirements (Postal Only)
Applications must not exceed 20 printed pages (DIN A4) and must include:
- Official Form: Signed German or English application form.
- Curriculum Vitae: Max. 2 pages documenting artistic career.
- Artistic Statement: Max. 5 pages describing the work.
- Portfolio: Photos or catalogs of current and past work (no originals).
- Digital Media: For film/video, a USB stick or CD with max. 3 clips (3-minute total playback).
- Return Shipping: Include a stamped, self-addressed envelope if you wish for materials to be returned.

Additional Details
The foundation does not cover production costs or framing for the exhibition. Curation is a collaborative process between the foundation and the artist. Materials not picked up within 6 weeks of the decision cannot be guaranteed for storage.
