Organizer Information

Le Garage Moderne is a non-profit cultural and community association founded in 2000 in the Bacalan district of Bordeaux by Béatrice Aspart, Véronique Goglin, and Boufeldja Labri, built on the idea of bringing art and mechanics together in a spirit of solidarity. Since 2003 it has operated from a 19th-century industrial warehouse of over 2,000 m², originally part of the Dyle Bacalan shipbuilding and metalworks complex. Today the association counts several thousand members and hundreds of active volunteers, and combines a participatory car and bicycle repair workshop with a community canteen, an emergency food-aid program launched in 2020, and a cultural venue hosting concerts, performances, and exhibitions. Le Garage Moderne is a partner in OASIS, a Creative Europe-supported project through which it runs international artist residency calls; the association has just returned to its historic building after a two-and-a-half-year renovation.

Title & Description

Call for Residency — OASIS Project, Second Edition

For the second year, Le Garage Moderne is opening an international residency cycle within the OASIS project, offering five grants to international artists. The call invites site-specific proposals responding to the newly renovated warehouse space, its verticality and scale, and the working, hands-on community that animates it. Selected artists are expected to engage directly with the venue's "hive-like" atmosphere and its resident community of makers and craftspeople.

Theme

Site-specific proposals exploring the physical and social possibilities of Le Garage Moderne's newly renovated warehouse — its verticality, scale, and community — following the venue's return to its historic building after renovation.
