Organizer Information

ARTS Southeast is a nonprofit organization based in Savannah, Georgia's Starland District, founded in 2014 by three local artists as Sulfur Studios, a DIY art space. Over its first seven years, the organization grew into a home base for Savannah's art community, offering studio space, exhibitions, performances, critique nights, film screenings, and public art projects. In 2021, it received its 501(c)(3) designation and rebranded as ARTS Southeast, with Sulfur Studios continuing as its flagship program. Today, ARTS Southeast houses 26 below-market-rate artist studios, the Ellis Gallery, a Supporter Gallery, a Community Darkroom, Studio Books arts bookstore, and several residency programs, including the ON::View Artist Residency, the Incubator Artist Initiative, and the Ossabaw Island Residency. Its mission is to make Savannah a destination for art and culture in the Southeast by supporting established and emerging artists and engaging a diverse community through creative programming.

Title & Description

ON::View Artist Residency — February–May 2027

The ON::View Artist Residency is a fully funded residency offering a free, high-visibility studio space, lodging, and a $500 stipend to an artist or curator completing a new project, continuing in-progress work, or conducting research. The residency studio sits just off the lobby at ARTS Southeast, with large street-level, east-facing windows onto Bull Street in the Starland District, allowing the community to view the resident's process in real time, from concept to final execution. ARTS Southeast describes the program as the only one of its kind in Savannah, welcoming creatives working in all media from around the globe.
