Organizer Information

The Young Generation Art Award is a joint initiative by Degussa Goldhandel and Monopol – Magazine for Art and Life. Managed by Degussa Holding AG (Baar, Switzerland), the prize aims to nurture talent at the onset of their careers and inform the public about current contemporary artistic creation. Shortlisted artists benefit from the artistic direction of Maya Heckelmann (Degussa) and editorial exposure in Monopol magazine.

Title & Description

Young Generation Art Award 2027.

This international competition is designed to provide a launching pad for promising artists into the professional art world. Five artists will be nominated for a shortlist, featured in Monopol, and invited to participate in a joint exhibition in autumn 2026. A jury of experts will select a single winner from this shortlist to receive the primary cash prize and an international traveling exhibition opportunity.

Eligibility

  • Age: Artists up to the age of 35 (cut-off date: May 30, 2026).
  • Education: Formal academic training is not mandatory.
  • Residency: Open to artists internationally.

Program Benefits and Awards

  • First Prize: €10,000 cash award plus an international traveling exhibition.
  • Shortlist Fee: Each of the four non-winning shortlisted artists receives an exhibition fee of €3,000.
  • Production Fee: Every shortlisted artist (including the winner) receives a €500 production fee if required for the exhibition.
  • Exposure: Featured profile in Monopol – Magazine for Art and Life and participation in a high-profile exhibition and award ceremony.

  • Application Fee: None (Free to apply).

Application Requirements

  • Digital Portfolio: A PDF (max. 8 MB) showcasing works, the majority of which must be available for exhibition.
  • Artist Biography: A short summary of the artist's career and contact information.
  • Artist Statement: A written statement regarding the artistic practice.

Location

The place of performance for the exhibition and sale of artworks is Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

Additional Details

The organizer provides all-risk insurance for artworks during the exhibition. While artworks may not be sold before the winner is announced in February 2027, they may be placed "on hold" with a right of first refusal for the prize provider.
