This call is designed for artists seeking high-level critical engagement with their work. Selected artists receive a detailed curatorial review essay and a generous six-page spread in an extensive linen-wrap hardcover art book. Unlike traditional magazines, the AFA Catalogue functions as a collection of scholarly essays presented in both digital and print formats. The program provides a professional bridge between an artist's portfolio and a scholarly audience, ensuring that experimental and alternative practices are documented with academic rigor.

Eligibility

  • Artists are selected based on originality, conceptual impact, and the aesthetic cohesiveness of their portfolio.

Fees

  • Publication Support: While there are no participation fees, selected artists are required to purchase one volume of the AFA book (available in economical paperback or premium hardcover) to support the content they are being published alongside.

Application Requirements

  • CV/Resume: Outlining professional achievements and education.
  • Portfolio samples: 3 high-quality image samples of your work.
  • Professional Link: A link to your official artist website or online portfolio (Instagram is not accepted).
  • Selection: Up to six "Best in Show" artists are chosen for the full critical essay feature.
