Title & Description
The Fine Odd — Hand-Fetish-Projects Open Call & Fine-Art Publication (Q1 2027 Edition)
"Odd" means strange. It also means a number that never splits evenly - one part always left standing alone. The Fine Odd picks that leftover: not what fits the mold of the many, but what stands alone, on its own terms. That leftover part is the fine one.
Hand-Fetish-Projects has launched the open call for The Fine Odd™ (Q1 2027 Edition), a fine-art publication and curatorial initiative. Investigating the condition of "oddness" in a world increasingly saturated with intentional difference, the call leaves the interpretation of "odd" open to the artist—welcoming fetishes, obsessions, unusual gestures, or visual languages that question where the ordinary ends. The open call culminates in two distinct volumes published as a high-quality physical and digital artbook. Selected artists receive dedicated spreads, global distribution, and consideration for independent book fair exhibitions.
Categories
The publication consists of two dedicated volumes:
- Volume 01: Photography — Conceptual, documentary, staged, experimental, analogue, digital, fashion, manipulated, or series-based photography.
- Volume 02: Visual Art & Print-Based Work — Illustration, painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, digital art, mixed media, and 2D practices (figurative, abstract, graphic, or narrative).
Eligibility
- Academic Background: Open to all artists regardless of formal art education or degrees.
- Geographic Scope: Open unconditionally to national and international creators worldwide.
- Thematic Scope: 18+ themes, sexuality, fetish, and desire are welcome, but never required. Works do not need to be explicitly "odd" in a cliché sense, provided they hold a meaningful relationship to the project's premise.
- Prior Works: Previously published or exhibited works are accepted, provided the artist holds full reproduction rights.
