Organizer Information

The Fundación Camila Cañeque is a contemporary cultural foundation established to support artistic, curatorial, research, and writing practices that engage with critical inquiry, conceptual experimentation, and interdisciplinary thinking. Through residencies, research initiatives, and collaborative projects, the foundation fosters conditions for reflection, intellectual exchange, and artistic development beyond conventional production-driven models.

For the 2026 edition of its international residency programme, the foundation partners with BAR project, an independent Barcelona-based platform recognized for its extensive experience in international residency programs, curatorial accompaniment, professional development, and networking opportunities for artists and cultural practitioners. Together, the two organizations have developed a residency that emphasizes time, focused attention, contextual engagement, and meaningful professional dialogue.

Title & Description

In the meantime nothing happens Residency Programme 2026

Fundación Camila Cañeque and BAR project invite applications for the 2026 edition of In the meantime nothing happens, an international six-week residency program taking place at Mas Verd in the Empordà region of Catalonia, Spain.

Inspired by a phrase from the work of Camila Cañeque—originally referencing Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot—the residency explores the idea of pause as a productive methodology. Rather than emphasizing output, the program encourages artists and cultural practitioners to engage in research, reflection, experimentation, and conceptual exploration within a supportive environment that values process over production.

The residency is specifically designed for practices that benefit from sustained attention, open-ended inquiry, and professional exchange. Participants will have the opportunity to develop ongoing investigations, explore new ideas, and engage in conversations with local and international practitioners while remaining connected to the residewider cultural ecosystems of Barcelona and Catalonia.

Hosted at Mas Verd, the foundation’s residence in the Empordà landscape, the program provides a unique environment for concentration, slowness, and critical thinking. Alongside independent work time, the selected resident will benefit from curatorial support, networking opportunities, contextual exchanges, and professional introductions facilitated by BAR project.

This opportunity is particularly suitable for artists, curators, researchers, writers, editors, and interdisciplinary practitioners whose work is research-led, conceptual, discursive, or process-based.
